From Franz with Love

Below is a letter emailed to members from our beloved head coach, Franz Straka.


Dear Supporter,
Since I arrived in Townsville almost two months ago, I’ve wanted to contact all our supporters to thank them for making me and my family feel so at home and for the support you’ve shown the team throughout the pre-season.As Head Coach of the Fury, I’m very fortunate to have a talented and enthusiast squad of players who are eager to improve, have a desire to succeed and above all, play for each other with tremendous team spirit.

It’s this enthusiastic and collective approach to our football which has resulted in our pleasing start to the season.As a player and coach, I’ve experienced many memorable moments throughout my career, but Saturday’s win against defending champions Sydney FC is certainly up there. I was delighted with our performance and the reaction of our fabulous supporters at the stadium that evening. The crowd really made a difference and gave us the lift we needed in those final ten minutes. On behalf of the team and coaching staff, I would like to thank all you all for being so vocal and supportive. Our next home match in on Saturday 28th August against Adelaide United and we would love to see as many people as possible in attendance. So if you enjoyed the experience last Saturday, whether at the stadium or watching on television, please bring your family and friends to Dairy Farmers Stadium and support the Fury in person – because there is nothing like playing in front a big home crowd. However, before then we have a tough match against an experienced Melbourne Victory outfit this Sunday at 3pm. Last year’s Grand Finalists will certainly pose a formidable challenge for us, but we give it our all and play our football with plenty of heart and spirit. I hope you will be cheering us on whilst watching the match on Fox Sports.
